1. What is a Pre-N-648 Screening Consultation?

​

 A short consultation with a licensed psychologist to help determine if a person might qualify for a medical exemption (Form N-648) from the U.S. citizenship test before completing a full psychological evaluation.

2. Who is this for?

​

  •   This service is helpful for adults who may have:   

  •   Memory problems- Learning difficulties

  •   Mental health conditions (e.g., PTSD, depression, schizophrenia)

  •   Brain injury, stroke, or developmental disabilities

 

3.     How much does it cost?

 

       $150 flat rate. No hidden fees.

 

4.    Is an interpreter available?

 

       Yes. Clients may bring their own interpreter or request one in advance.

 

5.   What happens after the screening?

   

     Each client receives a recommendation:

  • Likely Eligible (A complete evaluation is recommended

  • Not Recommended (Evaluation may not be appropriate at this time

  • Unclear (Additional information may be needed)

 

6.     Does this screening count as a full evaluation?

 

        No. It is a consultation only. However, the cost of the screening may be applied toward a full evaluation if       

        needed later.

7.     Why not go straight to a full evaluation?

 

        The screening helps determine eligibility early—saving time, money, and stress.

 

8.     Can a screening help if the client has already tried before?

     

        Yes. It may reveal new information or explain why a previous attempt was denied.

 

9.    Does the psychologist complete the N-648 form?

 

       Only if the client proceeds to a full evaluation and meets the eligibility criteria.

 

10.  Can the screening be done virtually?

 

       Yes — available by phone or video for clients in TX, LA, GA, and other states.

 

11. What if the client doesn’t speak English?

 

       We welcome non-English speakers. Interpreters are welcome. Vietnamese and other language support available         on request.
